It looks like a lot of people have a warm spot for the old DEC 36-bit machines (PDP-10, Decsystem 20). But does anybody have any code that really needs to run on them? Running ITS counts as alt.religion.computers... examples of reasons: 1) it's all assembler, and lots of it. 2) it's all BLISS-10 (argh!) 3) it needs 72 bits for floating point 4) ???? other reasons Don't get me wrong - I hacked assembler on those machines for decades(!?!?!) (well, 1 1/2+ decades), and had lots of fun. The question is, is this architecture really dead? geoff steckel (gwes@wjh12.harvard.EDU) (...!husc6!wjh12!omnivore!gws) Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Sun Microsystems, despite the From: line.
