[comp.arch] HP700/Snake details

jph@ais.org (Joseph Hillenburg) (04/24/91)

I have seen the HP700/Snake at the Indianapolis HP office. (during the HP
sponsored COMPUtourney...) I got a tour of the building, and saw an HP300 and
700. However, the HP rep that took us on the tour didn't bother to explain any
of the technical aspects of the 300 or 700. Could someone please
post/mail/whatever a message on the details of these two machines, including
prices, etc? (I know someone who is now interested in buying a Snake after
hearing about this...) Basically what I'm looking for is mhz, MIPS, HD space,
prices, graphics, SPECmarks, and other similar details...

Oh, forgot to mention that details of the HP400 would be nice too...

I'm sure the local sales office would be glad to provide you with
the information you are looking for on the Series 700. There is
a sales office in Flint, Michigan (Phone 313 733-6556.)

For a technical overview, see the Spring '91 IEEE COMPCON Digest
of Papers. There were three papers from HP discussing the processor,
the system design, the architecture, and the compiler enhancements.

Also, take a look in some of the older basenotes in comp.arch and
comp.sys.hp that have the word "Snakes" in the title. A lot of details
have been posted there over the last few weeks. If you can't find
the info you are looking for, just let me know.

Does anyone know how I can get a copy of these articles or of the original
publication? Also any other technical articles or information on this
product.

Sorry, I couldn't find a phone number for the center; maybe you could try the
IEEE headquarters for a number.
