[sci.bio] Nutritional value of milk

jackson@utzoo.UUCP (Don Jackson) (12/20/86)

Milk is extremely nutritious as shown by the fact that all
mammals naturally live and grow as young with milk as their only
source of food.

The problem of digestibility arises due to lactase intolerance in the
majority of the human race. With the exception of
groups originating in northern Europe (+ misc. others) humans cannot
digest raw milk products after they become 2-3 years of age.
The results are severe digestive disorders.

While milk contains fats and cholesterols, both are essential for
maintenance of good health and growth of all mammals.
