[sci.bio] whales

Does anyone know much about whales?

Do they have touch receptors in their skin? How accurate is their sense of
touch (how dense are the nerves)? What evolutionary purpose would those nerves
serve besides feeling large, general water currents? I can see why they'd feel
temperature, but that, again, must be only general. Does anyone know?

Thanks, and forgive me if I chose the wrong group to post to, is there a more
appropriate one?
