The following are some readable popular books on the subject: Bakker, R. T. 1986. The Dinosaur Heresies. Wm. Morrow & Co., NY. Charig, A. 1979. A New Look at the Dinosaurs. Heinemann, London. Feduccia, A. 1980. The Age of Birds. Harvard U. Press, Cambridge, MA. All three authors are paleontologists who write with some authority. Bakker, however, is perhaps given to advocacy--but I enjoyed his book. I'm glad that the point was made that large dinosaurs, at lease, would have had to have been effectively homeotherms (if not endotherms). There were, however, some fairly small dinosaurs (I realize that this is an oxymoron: "dinosaur" is not the name of a taxon, but rather a word that means "terrible" or "huge" lizard), i.e. chicken-sized. --Jim Rising -- Name: Jim Rising Mail: Dept.
