I read a sci fi story many years ago in which a cow's udder and some of a cow was artificially kept "alive" in a space station to supply milk and meat. How far is current bio-technology off from achieving this? I suppose you'd have to provide a blood supply to the muscle tissue with nutrients, etc. and probably also nerve connections to stimulate growth. No doubt there's a lot more. Is there any absolutely killer reason why it could not be done? Dick Jackson
