[sci.bio] Biogenesis

Ozymandias@oxy.edu (04/14/91)

I am presently a Senior Marine Bio major at Oxy, and I am required to give a
talk concerning recent developments in biotechnology, and I was wondering if
anyone out there knew of some good sources for topics such as: Biogenesis,
primordial soup, insta-life (just add water), etc. If you could please help me
out, I just MIGHT graduate!

Pondering my belly-button a bit TOO hard these days, I am:

You might want to look up some of the work of Jack Szostak. He has been
using some pretty nifty technology (specifically engineered and selected
ribozymes - catalytic RNAs) to try to generate an RNA-based in vitro
replication system which would presumably evolve.
