[sci.bio] taxol in tissue culture

swayne@reed.UUCP (Theresa Swayne) (06/05/91)

Can the anti-cancer drug taxol be produced in tissue culture? (It
is normally isolated from bark of the Pacific yew tree.)

What, in your opinion, is likely to be the first practical way
of getting taxol without killing trees?

Finally, is it known what taxol does for the tree?

I'd like references if you have any.
