I picked up some traffic from a Soviet research vessel which transmitted measurements such as temperature, salinity, speed of sound, etc. from depths between the surface and 5,000 meters. Just how does one makes such measurements and how are they sent to the surface from such a great depth? Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this mesaage. Please redirect me as required. Tom Roach
