[sci.bio] More Questions about Chimps

Thanks for the answers about chimps! I have a few more not directly related, but
probably relevant--

What constitutes an animal being endangered?

Why do some animals breed better in captivity than others (some that come
immediately to my mind are Giant Pandas) ? Have any attempts been made to breed
chimps in captivity, and if so how successful have they been?

If anyone can answer this one, you win the prize sci.bio scholar! Koalas have very
specialized diets (they eat only eucalyptys leaves). Have any attempts been made to
breed koalas with less specialized diets? This may be the key to the further
suurvival of animals who are losing out on their habitats to man.
