gds@mit-eddie.UUCP (Greg Skinner) (10/24/83)
Does anyone know why Bitnet addresses have such a strange syntax? I'd really
like to know what the "g" stands for.
example: g.bostonu=csc126
--greg
decvax!genrad!mit-eddie!gds, gds%mit-eddie@{mit-mc,mit-ml}fair@dual.UUCP (Erik E. Fair) (10/27/83)
The `G' refers the UCB Computer Facilities & Operations Unix System G,
which is a Vax-11/780, and the primary mail link to UCBVMA (The IBM 4341
on the BITNET).
I would be interested to know if the UCB sendmail will accept BITNET as a
real domain from the ARPANET side (e.g. PERSON@PLACE.BITNET.BERKELEY.ARPA),
since I know it will accept PERSON@PLACE.BITNET in locally generated mail...
