ISO will maybe do some work in this area. ISO has sent out a vote to
member countries of whether ISO should consider this topic, if positive,
ISO will begin working on it.

There are some other people in Europe working in this area too, to
provide input to ISO, within the European COST-11-ter project.

Unfortunately, few Americans have participated in this work so far.
At the last ISO meeting on the subject, there was no American represen-
tative at all.

Another problem is that CCITT is much more important for future standards
in this area than ISO, and there is an obvious risk that CCITT will
standardize distribution lists in a way which does not understand these
problems. If any of you have any influence on CCITT work, please try
to use it to get CCITT to accept that group communication is more
complex than they may believe, and that they should consider the
work being done in ISO in this area.
