[net.mail.headers] mail domain addresses

Bill Wells -

I can't reply to your message because Stanford doesn't have a
resolver up yet (promised Real Soon Now) and UCBJADE.BERKELEY.EDU
isn't in the NIC host table. I suspect that Stanford is at fault
for not having a resolver running yet. This ISN'T my problem; I
only do the mailsystem and domain solving is external to the
mailsystem. The mailsystem has been ready for a domain solver for
months. On DDN networks, it isn't anybody's problem; they aren't
required to do anything about domains.

My initial flame was in reaction to a comment which had the
attitude "if you can't reply to mail it is a good thing and it will
make you work harder." Bullsh-t. It is not a good thing that users
who have nothing to do with the domain solver software (a category I
happily place myself even though I hack mailers) can't reply to mail.

Basically, I am saying that since UCBJADE.BERKELEY.EDU seems to
be sending lots of messages, it should be in the NIC host table. If
there is a space problem, domains can eliminate a lot of the random
IBM PC's, etc. that are listed there.
