One of your loop control mechanisms - trashing messages if you've seen their IDs within the past two weeks - is too simplistic as I explained several times on this list. Your other loop control mechanisms seem reasonable though. Do you plan to distinguish between mailing lists and mail forwarding? I also believe your treatment of the return path (smtp-sender) is too simplistic. Sometimes the sender wants to see failed messages come back to him/her, and sometimes s/he doesn't. For example, I don't care if everyone on header-people sees this message within the next day, but if I am announcing an important meeting to a group of business associates which will take place tomorrow, I'd sure like to know if the mail can't get to some of them. No fixed scheme will handle this problem. Also, I'd like to see a different field than "Resent-From" and "Resent-To" used to distinguish the exapansion of a mailing list from when someone manually remails a message that they have received to someone else. -------
