Dear readers, Someone called something to my attention that I realize I had not stated explicitly in my response to the article about theft from an unlocked car with the windows open or something like that. The author asked if there were something wrong with his thinking since he felt that people who said, "you got what you deserved," were making a bad judgement. The part of his thinking I found fault with was the notion that one should expect others to look after my possessions and loved ones. My point was that I should take *reasonable* precautions to protect my loved ones and property. But, to say that a victim "got what s/he deserved" is thoughtless and cruel.
