Another example of radically revised orthography is Irish. The Irish language went through some extreme phonological changes, but the orthography was frozen early on. Old Irish was already a little tricky to read. An example of Modern Irish, old orthography, is 'urdhubhughadh', meaning solar eclipse. In the new orthography it is 'uru'. My professor in Irish said that one problem with the new orthography was that although the newspapers were all in the new orthography, no one had come out with a dictionary. Thus you couldn't look up a word unless you knew how it used to be spelled. (I expect that has changed by now)
