[net.nlang] five graders

rvpalliende (08/04/82)

I posted an article several days ago with the reference.
First-graders may read like fifth-graders (not "five" graders as I said before)
if the read using the i/t/a
(initial teaching alphabet)
By the way, in my country it is considered impolite to ridicule a
foreigner's grammar or pronunciation. But on the other hand, people aren't
too polite here, even with fellow North Americans.

Pablo, in this country too it is considered impolite to ridicule a
foreigner's grammar or pronunciation - but some people don't know this
yet. Count a blow for our `modern' education system, not against
North America itself.

I would normally consider it bad manners to make fun of a foreigner's
pronunciation/grammar, but when that same foreigner is trying to tell ME
how to use MY language, then I would consider it appropriate to point
out his misusage of the language.
