In our local telephone directory, we have the numbers for the city government offices headed by the words "Fictious Listing." The dictionary in the library (Webster's Third Collegiate) defines the word "fictious" as an archaic form of "fictitious." Durham, North Carolina, may indeed be archaic, but I can personally assure you that at least some of the government offices listed (tax collection and the police, for example) are most emphatically NOT fictitious. Is somebody out there aware of another, more reasonable, definition of this word? Chuck Kelly
