[net.nlang] comparable pronounciation

alex (02/05/83)

I usually pronounce it with stress on the first syllable when I mean
comensurate, and with stress on the second when I mean 'able to be compared'.

according to my old faithful M-W 2nd Ed. Unabridged (which lives about
3 feet from this terminal):
kom' pa ra b'l (where the first ' is a stress, and the second is
an elision); originally accented kom par' a ble.

so everyone is right, either now or historically

Instead of pronOUnciation, I think you want to say pronUnciation.
