[net.nlang] Pittsburgh Rhyme

rick (12/17/82)

The following rhyme is alleged to only rhyme in Pittsburgh (that is,
when read with a Pittsburgh accent, whatever that may be.)

	Tomorrow I'll
	Collect my towel
	And dry my owl
	Beside the Nile
	And then my cow
	If I know how.

From "Say it My Way" by Willard Espy

I should have said that, in Pittsburgh, every line of that poem
rhymes with every other line.

Hear, hear!

I'm from Pittsburgh and I have long talked of the Pittsburgh accent
(although I have all but lost it). Maybe now they'll listen to me.
