[net.nlang] sign in London's Heathrow airport

dave@utcsrgv.UUCP (Dave Sherman) (06/09/83)

                   NO
             ELECTRIC PASSENGER
             CARRYING VEHICLES
             BEYOND THIS POINT

Which is surprising. I have never seen a vehicle carrying an electric
passenger anywhere in Heathrow airport.

ptw@vaxine.UUCP (P. Tucker Withington) (06/10/83)

They also have a lot of signs saying;

		      +---------+
		      | WAY OUT | (!)
		      +---------+

Which may explain things, (parentheses mine).

rjsmith@ihu1f.UUCP (06/11/83)

	NO
ELECTRIC PASSENGER
CARRYING VEHICLES
BEYOND THIS POINT

I'll bet you've never seen an electric passenger carrying any
vehicles, either.

emil@rochester.UUCP (06/11/83)

I haven't even seen electric passengers carrying one vehicle.

paul@phonlab.UUCP (06/11/83)

How about an electric passenger carrying a vehicle?

xchar@rabbit.UUCP (06/12/83)

utcsrgv!dave says he is puzzled by this sign in London's
Heathrow airport
                      NO
                ELECTRIC PASSENGER
                CARRYING VEHICLES
                BEYOND THIS POINT
because he has "never seen a vehicle carrying an electric
passenger anywhere in Heathrow airport."

Perhaps he's been looking for the wrong thing. Next time,
he should watch for electric passengers who are carrying vehicles.

RE: The sign in Heathrow that says:

		NO
	ELECTRIC PASSENGER
	CARRYING VEHICLES
	BEYOND THIS POINT

I have also never seen an electric passenger carrying
anything *nearly* so heavy as a vehicle!

emma@uw-june.UUCP (06/13/83)

Of course you've never seen an electric passenger carrying a vehicle--
the sign is purely informational!

Does anyone remember the Electric Company and the confusion
over a sign that said:

	PRIVATE PROPERTY
	NO FISHING ALLOWED

which one person interpreted as:

	PRIVATE PROPERTY?
	NO. FISHING ALLOWED.

jss@brunix.UUCP (Judith Schrier) (06/14/83)

     NO
ELECTRIC PASSENGER
CARRYING VEHICLES
BEYOND THIS POINT

obviously refers to electric passengers, who are carrying vehicles around
the airport. They are *very* strong, those electric passengers.

It just goes to show how insular all you Americans are.

Of course England leads the world in the development of robot and android
technology. (You don't think just ordinary elecrtic people could carry
vehicles do you, no, these are the heavy duty stevedore grade androids.)

This, of course, explains why unemployment is so high in England.

Nor can I imagine vehicles being carried by an electric passenger.
