So you call '^' "to", as in "to the power of"?

I believe the "^" is also called a "circumflex".

Curiously enough, the actual name for the ^ character is CARET,
not carat. The latter is the unit used for measuring such things
as diamonds. I always spelled it wrong, too, until I saw it spelled
right in someone's note in this group and looked it up...
