Actually I was just (almost certainly) hired at NIH to work on their upcoming ai project - they want to write a program that reads technical reports, figures out keywords, and indexes the reports accordingly. This is not just word-counting, since they've hired a linguist. They also are buying 2 VAXen, I think, and a LISP machine or two, and a kurtz-weiler reading machine, etc. How reasonable is this? I'm wondering if this is a really major project (it's bound to take YEARS) or if someone doesn't know what he/she is getting into. I don't know much about natural language processing; what has been done in the field? Anyone out there from NIH know anything more about this project? - rene -- Arpa: rene.umcp-cs@CSNet-relay Uucp:...{allegra,seismo}!umcp-cs!rene
