[net.nlang] DECtalk for disabled on the Today Show

minow@decvax.UUCP (Martin Minow) (01/22/84)

On Tuesday, Jan. 24, the Today Show is planning to do a segment on
how a disabled child uses DECtalk and a microcomputer to communicate.
The work, which was done at Boston Children's Hospital, combines
DECtalk, a Robin (VT180) microcomputer, and a touch-screen
display terminal. The child builds sentences by touching words
(letters, phrases) on the display screen which are subsequently
spoken by DECtalk.

(The DECtalk demonstration number is (617) 493-8255.)
