This discussion of 'shit' being the longest single syllable word (if it is said correctly) got me thinking of the game where you try to get the ratio of number of letters (L) to syllables (S) at extremes. E.g., strengths = 9 (highest?) plague = 6 ague = 2 elegy = 5/3 aa = 1 a = 1 (lowest) The challenge, dear reader, is to find common words (> 3 letters) where L/S is either high or low. PS.
