[net.nlang] Spelling Reform in Academia

.
In the Reed College archives (from the 1920s I think), there
are many administrative memos written in a fairly radical
phonetic spelling style. Evidently some college president
back then had been convinced that this was the way to go,
and that it had to start in academia. After about 10 years
it died out. Sigh.

Has anyone else out there seen any actual attempts at spelling reform?
