A quote from the instruction manual for my new watch, which has a button for setting daylight saving time: "The summertime can be adjusted at one-touch." (if only it could.....) The phrase "summer time" is synonymous with Daylight saving time. The word "summertime" is synonymous with "summer". Unfortunately, "summertime" is definitely not "summer time". One can hardly blame someone whose native language is not English for failing to notice this distinction. Writing English is like walking across a minefield: no problem if you know where all the traps are. (Now as for the hyphen in 'one-touch'.....) L. R.
