About two weeks ago, I posted a request for net.africa in net.news.group.
Since then I have been receving postive responses. I am posting the request
in this newsgroup because a lot of those who respond will like
to see net.nlang.africa instead. Please post your support or rejection in
this newsgroup or send mail to me directly.
Request for net.nlang.africa
============================
I will like us to discuss issues related to
1) Telecommunication in Africa. Is the social structure
in Africa countries creating any obstacle to
acceptance of new technology? Are there solutions
to the existing problems or Is Africa doom for ever?
2) Cultural differences between African countries and
Western countries. Is there any similarities or
differences? For example, let us look at the Nigeria
Yoruba alphabets and the English alphabets:
English: a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z
Yoruba: a b d e e f g gb i h j k l m n o o p r s s u w y
. . .
(Please note the dots)
A quick comparison shows the similarities. Which set was established
first?
3) Discusion on Afro-America culture. Is there any commonality
with African cultures?
4) Any other interesting discussion related to Africa. For
example, the donation made be various people and
organizations to the Ethiopia people has been fantastic.
But it there any lesson we learned from this situation?
The drought did not hit them overnight. Could we have
prevent the situation by having close relationship with
each other? Are the Western countries going to forget
them once the situation improves? How can we improve
the relationship between Africa and the Western world?
[We are the world, we the children, we are the one that]
[make a better day .... ]
If you would like to contribute or learn from the discussions
on the above topics please respond now. Thanks
