Does anyone know what those bulletin boards outside houses of
worship are called? You know, the black rectangular things
(occasionaly topped by a flattish triangle), held up
on grey posts, that announce - usually with white letters that push
into slits on the black fabric - the times of services and the topic of
the sermon among other things.
I came across the word several years ago but have forgotten it. My
search among thesauruses and dictionaries has proved fruitless. If
my memory serves correctly, the word is a neo-Latin (i.e.,
multi-syllabic, pedantic-sounding) coinage.
Help is sought and will be much appreciated.
