I had thought that the term "rolling thunder" was Biblical (King James Version) in origin; however, I cannot find it in a Strong's Concordance (a reference book to words in the Bible). I know of the use of this term in two contexts: a) In the hymn, "How Great Thou Art", the phrase "I hear the rolling thunder" is part of the text. b) In Vietnam, I believe one of the bombing programs/operations was called "Rolling Thunder". Does anyone know if the use in the hymn is, in fact, the origin of this term, or if there was an earlier origin? If the latter, details or references would be appreciated. Thanks!
