Are there any english / foreign-language dictionaries on line? I envision a file containing line entries: english word -> counterpart word. This is a very simplistic approach, and many ambiguities arise. An english german cross-reference would have to contain the two entries "go -> gehen" and "go -> fahren". Without further information, you wouldn't know which verb to use. However, such a cross-reference would be a start. One of the first AI natural language projects (an overly ambitious one at that) was a russian/english translator. It must have had such an internal lexical map.
