[net.nlang] apology for earlier posting

radzy@calma.UUCP (Tim Radzykewycz) (11/20/85)

I recently posted an article linking the pronunciation of
the word nuclear with the learnedness of the people using
various different pronunciations. I would like to apologise
for that article to anyone I inadvertantly offended (and any
friends of net-readers, who I indirectly offended).

My article included several questionable items, which were,
for the most part, simply reflections of my personal prejudices.
I've received several letters, and seen several other postings
which stated this and gave examples.

I've since given the subject much further thought (hence, the
lateness of this apology). There are several, very flimsy
arguments I could use to rebutt any of the individual responses
I got, but some of them are contradictory and they are all pretty
flimsy. I was simply wrong.

Again, apologies to anyone I offended.
