This doesn't help you, but I thought others might be amused to know that I once put together a Tibetan font for 'vtroff', the Unix printing system that plots bitmapped fonts on a Versatec plotter. I didn't implement vowels or punctuation, but even so it's great for running off (say) manual pages. Tibetan has a writing system which almost no one can identify at first glance...
