I'm working on a project involving synthetic speech and I'm using the Naval Research Lab letter-to-sound rules. The output, however, is in their own version of phonetic symbols, e.g. "yuck" would be /yAXk/. Yuck! I've much more comfortable working with IPA symbols. Is there a "standard" way of representing the IPA set using ASCII characters? If so, can some kind person send me a copy *BY E-MAIL* ??? Thanks in advance !! -- Henry Chai, just a humble student at the Faculty of Library and Information Science, U of Toronto {watmath,ihnp4,allegra}!utzoo!utflis!chai
