With reference to understanding malformed (anomalous) linguistic fragments, I had a linguistics Prof who defined "anomalous sentence" by saying "An anomalous sentence is a sentence that when you hear it you know what it means but you think maybe there's something wrong with it." -- Peace and Good!, Fr.
