Al, I guess that I will have to step in here and give my two cents worth. I happen to know of a good place to get good ultralight instruction as well as well as purchasing one of the beasts. There is a real nice little grass strip airport near Denton called Hartlee Field. You can get there by taking I-35 north -- after you cross over Lake Lewisville, you will see Mayhill Rd within another 3 or 4 miles. Take a right on it and follow it until it quits (about 5 miles). The name of the road will change after you cross highway 380, so don't panic. When you reach the end of "Mayhill Rd", you will be looking right at the runway -- although it looks like a regular grass field. The hangers and stuff are back in a ways and are hard to see from the road. Anyway take a left from "Mayfield" and the entrance to Hartlee will be on the right within 100 yards. Follow the l o n g driveway to the hangers in the back. The whole trip is about a 40 mile drive from Dallas. If you want to call them, just ask Denton information for Hartlee field (area code 817 I believe). They have a couple of very good instructors -- and have 10 to 15 one and two passenger crafts out there. They even sell the Paraplane which is an ultralight suspended under a large parachute. I know of this place because our Drop Zone used to be located at that airport -- it used to be a WW1 (?) training center with Steermans and such. It's a very nice, pretty little airport. I wish we were still jumping out there! There certainly might be other ultralight airports around -- but this is the only one that I happen to be familiar with. Blue Skies.
