Point of curiosity.
Does anyone out there have any experiences with the Aeromod
conversion for the C-152? My own experience has been good,
with one big sour note.
What it is:
o Increase compression of the engine -- increases power about
10 hp while reducing tendency to foul on 100 hi-lead (our
FBO doesn't carry the 100 low-lead that 152's like)
o Build new engine baffling
o Change prop and spinner
o Re-mark the tach to extend the red line
First the good news: Like almost everyone else who's gotten the mod,
I'm happy with the result. Very noticeable increase in power and
performance. Doesn't even feel like the same plane.
Now the bad news: The manufacturer's labor estimate for the new
baffling was much lower than we ended up paying. The result: the
upgrade (which we combined with the overhaul) was considerably
more expensive that we had planned.
My question: Did Aeromod underestimate? Did the FBO blow it?
In other words, has anyone out there had any experiences with
the Aeromod conversion similar to (or different from) mine?
