[What ever happened to bug-fodder lines?]

It's probably more widely accepted than you realize that airplanes
have personalities.

I know one instructor who has said, publically and within earshot of 
the airplane, that he doesn't like our Piper Tomahawk; in fact, he's 
almost always putting the airplane down.

Well, guess who the only person is who's ever had to declare an 
emergency in good ol' N23436? That's right, you guessed it. One day 
this instructor was starting an approach when the throttle cable 
broke, leaving him with a choice of full power or nothing (the 
throttle stuck open). He did kill the engine with the mixture and made 
an uneventful power-off landing, but the airplane made it's point.
