I am just getting into flying from the less expensive
side (i.e sailplanes and hang gliders - [re the recent ultralight
discussion, they seem to be in phase of their development
which is unsafe, analogous to hang gliders several years ago.
I would neither advocate them to anyone nor dissuade anyone.])
Anyway, my health insurance (a student policy) specifically
excludes any injuries resulting from "aerial navigation"
except as a passenger on a scheduled airline. I am wondering
if there is (a) an inexpensive complete insurance policy which
covers flying, or (b) a policy relating only to flying which I
might tack on to my current policy. Please note that I am not
interested in life insurance, or anything of that sort; just
health insurance (incl. hospitalization and surgery). While
flying (yes, even hang gliding) can be remarkably safe, nothing
is absolutely safe; and even a day or two in the hospital can
plunge you into poverty nowdays.
I would welcome suggestions based both upon insurance company
advertising and upon personal experience.
Sincerely,
David M. MacMillanwombat@ccvaxa.UUCP (07/08/85)
