I am trying to plan a trip in my J3 Cub floatplane from Idaho Falls
(eastern Idaho) to the SPA fly-in at Lakeport, CA (northwest from
Sacramento) the first weekend in October. My problem is insufficient
range to get from {Salt Lake, Twin Falls, Boise} to Lake Taohoe or
Boise across OR to northern CA.
My insurance mandates I use only avgas (prefer 80) so I need to find
lakes or open rivers near airports with fuel. I carry cans and am not
opposed to hitchhiking to the airport.
If anyone has flown through this country in a seaplane or knows of water
near {beaches, roads, docks, avgas} in this area, I'd sure like to hear
from you. Places I'm curious about include Rye Patch Res. and the water
by Lovelock NV and many of the central OR lakes like the one at Lakeview.
Any suggestions???
