[net.aviation] 1985--worst year for commercial aviation

nzm10@amdahl.UUCP (Neal Macklin) (08/23/85)

What is happening this year? Obviously it must be statistical, but every
week you hear about a new crash. I just heard on the radio that over
1700 people have already died this year on commercial flights, making it
the worst year in aviation history.

I thought we were done after the Japan 747 and Dallas L1011, then the news
about the England 737 and the 5 emergency landings of flights yesterday
in Japan due to odd engine and structural problems. Makes one think
twice before taking that trip.
