At Oshkosh this year, I witnessed someone (maybe Bob Herendeen) do an
18 turn inverted flat spin.  He started VERY high, with very little forward
speed.  The tail kicked around, the forward motion stopped, and he was
falling.  (Smoke billowing out made for a very pretty sight.)  Recovery
just sort of happened!  One minute it was spinning, the next minute the
nose dropped and he pulled out!  I was watching very carefully to try to
see how he'd recover, and I really can't figure it out.  

The plane was a T-720 (I think that's right) which I believe is very much 
like Leo Loudenslager's Laser (a modified Spinks Acrostar?)
