[net.aviation] what I saw yesterday

Some random observations, with no real heavy philosophical conclusions...

Yesterday morning I picked up my parents at the airport when they arrived on
the first Concorde flight into Columbus, Ohio (CMH). They had made the
London to New York crossing in the usual 3:25 at 55-60 K feet (Mach 2),
while having croissants (sp?) and champagne for breakfast. They arrived in
New York 1.5 hours "before" they left London (with time zones).

Yesterday evening I went to the Reds-Padres game in Cincinnati (where Pete
Rose was expected to make Hit Number 4192 - but that's another story), and
watched the Goodyear Blimp circling gracefully (but fatly) above the
stadium, helping a SRO crowd to some nice color graphics (but that's another
story too).

A day of interesting contrasts...
