While thumbing though the 12/85 issue of Model Airplane News I came across a cut-away 3 view of a pre WWII speed attempt plane constructed as a collaboration between Ettore Bugatti (of auto fame) and a Belgian named deMonge. The aircraft is physically stunning - two inline engines mounted behind the pilot driving counter-rotating props. The wing was swept forward and the 3 finned stab took in coolant air which was ducted to internal radiators and then exhausted through the trailing edge of the wing root! Due to WWII the plane never flew, but it managed to escape destruction and now resides somewhere in the US. The engines are missing and it is unclear if an effort is being made to restore it to flying condition (it never flew, although a R/C model of it recently did). Does anyone know anything else about this beautiful beast? I'll nominate it as "the most beautiful airplane in the world." Steve Crandall ihnp4!mhuxt!evans
