I have e-mailed Revision 2.0 of the navigation program to everyone
who was on my mailing list. If anyone didn't get it, or wishes to be
added to the mailing list drop me a note in the mail. The changes made
to the program are listed below. In addition, there is now a working
Turbo Pascal version. I will e-mail this to anyone who is interested.
It works exactly like the C version, and uses the same database files.
Aviation Navigation Program and Database
Revision 2.0
Jan. 1, 1986
Revision 2.0 of the Navigation program contains many
changes. The source code has been cleaned up and commented; the
source will now compile on the IBM PC series of machines using
the Mark Williams C86 compiler; a Turbo Pascal source is available;
the program now properly computes flight plans that use mixed
vortacs and vors or intersections; a new output format that
closely resembles the Jeppeson Navigation Log is the default
output; the program uses considerably less memory as the database
files are scanned rather than stored in memory; the default
location for the database and usage files is in the user's home
directory in "/nav" - this can be modified by setting an
environment variable called "NAV" to any desired fully
qualified path name; altitudes can be entered as hundreds of feet -
for example "-alt 45" indicates an altitude of 4500 feet; altitudes
greater than 18000 feet will be displayed as "FL180" in the flight
guide; finally, the program will display distance and radial of
the two nearest Vors for the origin and destination ariports.
