My parents tried to take a commercial flight from Newark NJ to Albuquerque NM yesterday. First they sat at the gate for an hour and a half while mechanics repaired a broken de-icer. Then the captain discovered the airplane was over gross, so about 10 people got bumped. Then they took off. About half-past Ohio, they did a 180 and a quick descent. Pilot gets on intercom and announces the windshield has cracked; they're going back to Newark. Arrive at Newark, sit for a while until they trundle up another 727. Everyone moves over to the new airplane in the rain. Sit for another hour while they fuel this one up and transfer all the baggage. Finally, they're all fueled, got the baggage all loaded and just about ready to go, when a baggage handler drove his truck into the side of the airplane. At this point they got disgusted and went home.
