As an experiment, we've changed the way the laser printer stacks output. A friend from Boston tipped us off that if the paper falls about a foot to a tray, instead of sliding onto a ramp at once, it generally curls around so that it is face-down. This means that the resulting stack of paper is first-page-first, instead of first-page-last as it is on the ramp. We suspect that getting the pages in the right order is worth not being able to see the output as easily. If you disagree, or if you see the new setup malfunctioning in some way, please let us know. The control software has been changed to match, so that the header page is now printed first instead of last (i.e. it's on top of the pile when the pile is turned print-side-up). -- Henry Spencer @ U of Toronto Zoology {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!henry
