Since both July 1st and July 2nd are U of T holidays, there will be no backups Thursday or Friday this week.

Unix will be running unattended for most of the holidays. This means no backups, so be careful when deleting files that you've just worked on. It means nobody will be answering 5303 or 6060, so you're pretty much on your own. And it means that a hardware malfunction may take Unix out of service for quite a while before it comes to the attention of anyone who can do something about it. Especially with the notable number of crashes we've had of late, we cannot promise uninterrupted service over the holidays. On the brighter side, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. -- Henry Spencer @ U of Toronto Zoology {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!henry

Computer Systems' facilities will be unattended through the Christmas holidays. Backups will run normally on Monday the 23rd and will then cease until Thursday the 2nd, except that there *might* be a backup on Friday the 27th. Barring malfunctions, Unix will be running throughout the holidays. If the system does malfunction, it may be down for some time. If you plan to do a lot of printing on the laser printers during the holidays, please let us know *now* so that we can loan you some extra paper. Nobody will be around to refill the paper trays, so you'd better be prepared to handle this chore yourself. Note that the building will be locked throughout the holidays, and that the U of T Police are insisting that anyone in the building should have either Zoology ID or an official letter of authorization.
