One of our regular phone-line modems has temporarily been replaced by one of the new Anderson-Jacobson ones, on loan from its owners (Laura and me). I've installed it on tty19, line 2581, so people calling the hunt group at 2579 get the 300-only modems first. The A-J can run at 300, so the only difference 300-baud users will see is that they will sometimes have to hit RETURN once or twice before they'll get "Login:". (Tty19 is set to try 1200 first because speed-switching from 1200 to 300 is straightforward but 300 to 1200 seems to give problems.) Folks who are lucky enough to have 1200-baud modems should try 2581 first, before 5121. The midnight-to-0800 curfew on use of 5121 does not apply to 2581. Since the extra modem is present only by generosity of its owners, it is not permanent and may depart at any time.
