the magtape worked fine for backups, but when i used it to read some files off a tape I had, it collapsed. It made funny noises -- a loud thumping -- and took several tries to read from the tape. The motion of the upper hub was too fast, and not regular as per normal operation. It may have munged my tape in passing. DO NOT USE! Laura
